Biografia

Wisława Szymborska (Kórnik, 2 luglio 1923 – Cracovia, 1 febbraio 2012) è stata una poetessa e saggista polacca.
Premiata con il Nobel nel 1996 e con numerosi altri riconoscimenti, è generalmente considerata la più importante poetessa polacca degli ultimi anni. In Polonia, i suoi volumi raggiungono cifre di vendita che rivaleggiano con quelle dei più notevoli autori di prosa, nonostante Szymborska abbia ironicamente osservato, nella poesia intitolata Ad alcuni piace la poesia (Niektorzy lubią poezje), che la poesia piace a non più di due persone su mille.
